Welcome to the Bill and Lorna Boyd Charitable Trust website. Not long after Bill Boyd commenced his term as Rotary International President on 1 July 2006, members of the Rotary Club of Pakuranga Incorporated decided to mark the occasion by the formation of a charitable trust. The Bill and Lorna Boyd Charitable Trust deed was executed on the 18th December 2006. The objects of the Trust are to assist New Zealand Rotary Club’s and other service organisations with funding for specific charitable purposes in New Zealand and for such other charitable purposes in New Zealand as the Trustees may decide. As at May 2020 the Trust has initiated three projects focused on assisting literacy improvement, The Usborne Illustrated Dictionary, The Usborne First Atlas and Rhyming Around The Alphabet. Rotary Dictionary Project
This Trust Project has issued over 220,000 Usborne Illustrated English Dictionaries, plus several thousand Usborne First Atlas and more than 5000 Rhyming around the Alphabet packs, to primary schools and early learning institutions throughout NZ and the Pacific Islands. Rhyming Around The Alphabet
This is the latest project of The Bill and Lorna Boyd Charitable Trust. Its objective is to provide these colourful Rhyming Alphabet book and card sets, designed and published by Dame Wendy Pye’s Sunshine Books, to Kindergartens, Pre- Schools, Early Learning Centres and Primary School Year 1 students, throughout NZ.
